Rainbow Ridge From the Mark Twain 1956

Another view from the photographers trip on the Mark Twain in the summer of 1956. This is the little mining town of Rainbow Ridge in its first incarnation. The ride entrance and staging area for the Pack Mules in the foreground is something rarely seen in images. This area was completely changed in 1960 for Nature's Wonderland Railroad. In the left hand side you can see half of Mineral Hall and in the background the newly opened Skyway.

It's amazing how close the castle was to all of that frontier stuff. Once you were in the wilderness, the rest of Disneyland disappeared.
