Suspended Girl Scouts

Girl scouts and Tom Sawyer's Island sound like a fun combination. The island was made for young people to enjoy the various activities on the island. The scouts are posing on the suspension bridge that is always fun to cross and try to swing, causing your brothers to have to balance themselves. Note Tom's tree house in the background.

Meet The Space Boy

One of the reasons the Girl Scouts were in Tomorrowland was to meet a space man. Who they met was this space boy! Note that the Satellite View of America is the location of an art festival.

Girl Scouts in Tomorrowland

A group of Girl Scouts pose in Tomorrowland circa 1958. I love how the kids are looking in each direction. The original Tomorrowland has a great appeal with some great rides and color.

Souvenir Friday- Carnation Recipes Inspired By Disneyland

Probably from the late 1960s, a fun colorful brochure featuring various recipes inspired by different lands at Disneyland. If anyone makes the Seafarers Salad or Satellite Salad, please let me know how they turn out. Mmmm, Jello is just not for dessert.

Girl Scouts at Disneyland 1958

Since it is Girl Scout Cookie Time, I thought I would post this nice series of slides showing a trip to Disneyland by a troop of Girl Scouts to Disneyland in 1958. The slides are so cool, I am just posting one a day....First up is the requisite entrance photograph. Note off in the distance the banner promoting the opening of the Grand Canyon diorama. That is also the reason for the bunting on the railroad cars. Some nice posters on display, I will take the Art Corner one please!

Knott's Berry Farm Goldies Place and Bandito Statue

The Pitchur Gallery at Knott's Berry Farm was once the place to take fun photographs. This one shows Goldie's joint where the guests get to be ladies of the evening and their friends.

Next up is an early view of the wooden carved Bandito on the Main Stree on Ghost Town.

Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm 1956

Two photographs of Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm in 1956. First up is a view of Knott's Berry Farm Ghost Town Narrow Gauge Railroad. Quite a crowd of guests waiting for the train. Photograph is dated on the back October 14, 1956.

The other image is of a young boy getting off the Jungle Cruise. I love the shirt, his spectator shoes and the camera around his neck. The photograph is dated September 16, 1956. According to the Almanac, on this Sunday Disneyland was open open 10 AM to 10 PM with a high of 93 and a low of 55 and an attendance of 12,843.

Herbie the Love Bug

Happy Valentine's Day! This is the last set of images of Sally and Larry at Disneyland. I hope you all have someone you can share Disneyland with! First up is a view of Sally on the exciting and thrilling Motor Boat Cruise. I hope she is ready for the thrills that await her on this attraction.

Sally and Larry on the Snow White attraction. Too bad is not a slight angle so you could see the mural.

The next two images are of Sally and Larry posing by their Volkswagen Bug in the parking lot.

Some have asked if I knew if Larry and Sally ended up marrying each other. The rest of the photographs in the album are of Sally as a baby and as a young girl. The only photograph that shows an older couple is this one from about 9 years later. It looks like Larry and Sally...

Love in Full Bloom

I was going to name this post Axe me who do you love but thought it was a little too cheesy. The first image is from the Mark Twain and is kind of an unfortunate pose. Maybe I should have saved it for Halloween?

Next up a nice view at Storybook Land with the lovely ticket booth/lighthouse as a background.

Next up a fairly common view sitting in the Carnation truck.

Sally and Larry enjoying the evening by It's A Small World (I am guessing due to the graphic on the waste receptacle.)

Fun With Souvenirs

Sally and Larry having some fun with souvenirs. First up is a shot of Sally standing in line for the Canoes. Note the Northwest Pacific Indian carving in the background.

Sally having fun with a Mickey Mouse bib and all the food ordered from Tomorrowland Terrace. Check out the food trays in the lower right hand of the photograph.

Larry enjoyed his Disneyland T-shirt, taking a nap in the first shot and posing lovingly with Sally's hat in the second.

He is In Love With That Girl

Larry really loved Sally and took some lovely pictures of her posing throughout Disneyland. First up is a lovely shot of Sally riding King Arthur's Carrousel in Fantasyland.

Next up she poses on the Disneyland and Santa Fe Railroad while at the Frontierland station.

A blurry shot of Sally standing on Main Street. I believe this is the side entrance into what is now the Jewelry store.

I believe this image is from the lobby at the Blue Bayou. The flash makes Sally look very angelic.

Portrait of Young Love

Four more photographs from Larry and Sally's trip to Disneyland. First up are two images of Sally getting her portrait drawn at the Art Festival on Main Street. I like the first image with Sally looking up at the camera.

A nice shot of Sally on the Mark Twain and she definitely looks happy.

The happy couple on the Twain. Like most people visiting Disneyland, the couple is smiling and happy!

Last French Postcard

Here is the last French Postcards with Goofy walking on a tightrope over an Avenue. I like the expression on Donald's face as he looks down at the Avenue.

The series is a set of 20, so I am missing 12. If any one has some of the postcards I am missing to donate (or sell) to me, I would be interested!

Sally and Characters

Continuing the series of photographs of Sally and Larry are these nice images of Sally posing with various characters at Disneyland. First up is a great shot of Captain Hook and quite a crowd. The crowd is fun and dressed in some fantastic 1970s clothing.

A shot of Goofy being goofy at the entrance. Note the great Kodak picture spot sign with the silhouette of the photographer.

A shot with my favorite Tigger before he turned day glow orange.

Pluto and a bit of Goofy draw a crowd. Note the attraction poster for Primeval World in the background.

More Pictures of a Couple in Love

More pictures of the day Sally and Larry visited Disneyland. First up is a psychedelic picture featuring Sally posing at the hub with some wild colored flowers.

Next up is the requisite Sleeping Beauty Castle forecourt picture. The couple is a little distant.

A couple of fun photographs of the Northwest Pacific Indian structure that was part of the Indian Village. I love the details, the painting and the paddle sitting next to the door. This structure was added in 1964 as part of the Columbia Below Decks. Check out the sandals being worn by this groovy couple.
