Two Views ofthe Trylon and Perisphere

Two views of the symbols of the 1939 New York World's Fair, the Trylon and Perisphere. The first view is of the structures perfectly framed and in nice light. Where is my time machine so I can travel back in time and visit this fair?

The second image shows the large lagoon filled with sculptures and the iconic structures in the background.

Chicken of the Sea in Black and White

Double post today as I am having issues with my computer. Today's post features a nice family portrait (a little fuzzy) in front of the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship in Fantasyland. The ship was under construction at the time period as seen by the scaffolding on the left hand side of the photograph and the velvet rope surrounding the ship. The family is eating frozen grape bars from nearby Welch's grape stand.

Aerial View of Unknown Roller Coaster

A nice 1930s aerial view of a seaside boardwalk with a nice wooden roller coaster. I do not know where this roller coaster was located. The location is great with the ocean on one side and a lagoon on the other side. The coaster looks like it was a fun ride.

Souvenir Friday- Disneyland Railroad Spike

In the early 2000's, the Disneyana shop on Main Street was selling some cool souvenir items with pieces of the park. This is a nicely framed image of engine number 4 the E.S. Marsh with an original railroad spike. According to the certificate on the back, only 125 were sold like this...if I remember correctly, there was one for each train so there were 500 total spikes sold. I purchased this from a cast member who worked at Disneyland in the early 2000 time period.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today's post features a greatest hits so to speak...the best Thanksgiving posts from years ago. The first post is from the 1976 America on Parade featuring the first Thanksgiving and a large turkey.

The next group of pictures are from a set of Macy's Thanksgiving day parade in 1949. Some great shots of the various floats:

Everyone have a good Thanksgiving and enjoy your turkey (tofurkey) and trimmings.

Carnival Whip

A cute small version of a whip just the right size for kids to ride. The background is filled with color with the ticket booth in the center. Some nice people watching in the background, it looks like the Dad has a ticket book in his pocket.

Souvenir Friday- 1964 New York World's Fair T Shirt

A great kids t-shirt from the 1964 New York World's Fair. The shirt features the two kid mascots of the fair in front of New York City. I wonder if anyone has made modern adult t-shirts with this vintage graphic.

Riding Ponies At A Carnival

Two nice slides of a young girl enjoying her rides on ponies at a traveling carnival. First up she is riding a coin operated horse ride in front of a carousel. Her ride is one of those found in front of stores.

The second picture shows the young girl riding the carousel. The speed of the carousel is shown by the blurring one of the riders. Some nice people watching in the crowd.

Two Skyway Views

I am back to blogging after a couple of weeks of hectic work and life. The post is two nice images featuring the Skyway. First up is a view of Tomorrowland with a very crowded Space Bar right in the middle. I have always liked the sign design for the Skyway tower in Tomorrowland at this time.

The second image shows Fantasyland from the steps of the Skyway Chalet. I love the line of buckets on the left hand side.
