Cinco De Mayo In July

I love a vintage Disneyland parade and this one is very interesting. It appears that the parade was for a Cinco de Mayo celebration. First up is a dancer with an interesting tricycle float.

Next up is the horse color guard coming down Main Street in front of the Emporium.

Final image is of Chip (or Dale) driving a small Herbie the Love Bug go kart. I wonder if Bob Gurr had a hand in designing the vehicle?

I love vintage parade photos! I've never seen the mini Herbie before...only the full-sized one. There's a name for those diamond-shaped woven yarn things in that first pic, but I can't think of it right now. I remember those were pretty popular in the seventies.

I think the diamond-shaped woven yarn thing is called a god's eye.
