Some interesting lines on the pavement and folding chairs to sit on. It appears this was at the Tomorrowland Stage. Notice the Flight to the Moon building in the background.
A nice shot of the great architecture and the lovely planters.

The 70's! That orange jacket is awesome.
What ARE those chalk lines on the ground? Very interesting, and very strange.
Love those clothes! But...WHERE was that first photo taken????
I was wondering the same thing about that first pic. Is that the Carefree Corner? Coke Corner, perhaps?
Pic edge says 1970.
First one has to be someplace on Main Street - there seems to be some sort of raised platform/step with a brass rail behind his right shoulder.
Rocket to the Moon became Flight to the Moon. It became Mission to Mars in July 1969 (checked with Yesterland). If they waited a while to develop their pics, this could have been the event to announce that change - it wouldn't have still been Flight to the Moon in June 1970.
Also, markings on the ground could have been for chair boundaries.?
The paint lines on the hard top looks a lot like the markings used to show where pipes are run underground, usually because the area needs to be dug up and the pipes repaired. They don't look quite like anything I've ever seen before though....
Anonymous, Flight to the Moon changed to Mission to Mars in 1975.
Matterhorn, why can't you just wait for the book to come out like everybody else?! I don't think I would have an event like this in the thesaurus at present--more because I wouldn't have a source mentioning it than because I wouldn't record such an event.
