More Images from A Crowded Day

Two more images of the crowded day in 1962. The first shows the way in which Disneyland controls unruly kids....they place them in a cage and take them around a track.

The second is a shot showing the young girls first driving lesson. It looks like she has already run into the back of the car in front of her.

More great pictures. Love the Autopia shot...I never knew that there were small wheels on the sides of the cars, sort of side bumpers...probably helped to prevent damage to the curbs.

Hey, I've didn’t know about those side wheels either. I've read a lot of stuff (E ticket Mags, Bob Gurr Interviews) and I have never heard mention of these side wheels! I bet it just made these versions of the Autopia cars even heaver! Thanks for the rare pic.

Those cars had an external gas peddle and brake on the drives side too, for the attendants to drive the car back to the service area. A lot of guys slipped off and got caught between the car and the curb and broke their leg on those things.
