Souvenir Friday- Television Viewers

I love these little television shaped viewers. This is only part (although a large part) of my collection of these. The pictures inside the each television viewer date from a series in the late 1950s up to the mid 1960s. The little viewers are very hard to locate. I also collect them from other theme parks with the San Antonio Zoo and Lion Country Safari included in the collection. I wish I could show the images from the viewers, but nothing seems to work. These are fun little souvenirs.

Just to add to today's post, a publicity shot of Walt Disney from the opening of a Television show.

Jeez, I had no idea there were so many variations! I have maybe two of the little TV viewers, and they have mostly familiar postcard views.

I do have one interesting German viewer, the only example I've ever seen. It's a little black box with silver printing on it. Have you seen the viewer that looks like a mini movie camera?

How fun - and a neat focus for a collection. Makes you wonder if someone might try a new high def plasma version!

Wow, I used to love these little TV’s. When I was a kid I would always take them apart to see how they worked, which is kinda like a mono-viewmaster.

I would love to see the magic images inside, but like you, I don't know how you could do it? Well, there's always "my way" but I don't think you want to "break" up your collection for that!

Any Magic Mountain TV's in your collection?????

Thanks for sharing.

Geez, I've never thought that someone else also has a craze for that stuff! I love them and what's really upsetting - I even don't know the word for them in my native language - polish. I'm collecting only from various places around the world, I've noticed that especially Germany is very known from production of these viewers (I got two from Germany, from Bavaria and somewhere more ... industrial :) Also Italy - I even checked that on ebay is currently bidded one from Venice (oh, that would be REALLY nice!). And I got also two more "exotic" from Ibiza and Mallorca. It's not easy to find them, only once I bought in a regular shop, in Vienna, next to Prater. Cheers and bye bye!
