Cascade Peak April 21, 1963
This image of Cascade Peak has been kindly dated to the day the photo was taken. In the background can be seen the masts of the Sailing Ship Columbia and also the top of the Haunted Mansion which was constructed and then laid empty for many long years. Now this scene is completely gone and even the old Mine Train which sits on the track is beginning to become overgrown.

I sure wish they'd build a new Cascade Peak...yeah, that'll happen!
I think this image is reversed. Spent many hours on the "river" as a CM and can't recall this perspetive. Miss the Peak too. Rather bland there now.
Anonymous- I flipped the photo and the view did not look right either. I was trying to determine where the photographer was standing or sitting when they took the photo.
I suspect it was taken on the river itself. I'll try to do better with my typing in the future. Regards...
The image IS reversed. The photo was taken from the Mark Twain just after it rounded the curve at the village of Indians along the north-east section of the riverbank (not to be confused with the "Indian Village" previously located at what is now Critter Country). The location of the waterfall and the Haunted Mansion creates a line-of-sight which places the photographer at the location mentioned above. Take a look at this image:

I flipped the phot and posted based upon squalls information. Thanks it makes sense now.
Yes, that looks much better now. From the position of the masts, the Columbia was operating that day. Worked the canoes, Columbia and the Mark. I would say this shot came from the bow of the Mark.
I know you'll hate me for being so nitpicky, but regardless if the photo is flopped or not, you wouldn't be able to see the Mansion from any angle if you were looking at Cascade Peak - if you turned to see the Mansion, you wouldn't be able to see the falls - at all.
Was really sorry to see this go. Heard from a Mark Twain Skipper that the reason they yanked this is that it was structurally unsound and the plumbing was rotting away from years of neglect. Sad. That's kind of seeming like the new SOP there - it's old, it's not current - scrap it.
