Mice at the Front Gate

The photographer of today's post did not get very far before shooting pictures. The first image is of the line for tickets. Heading out into the parking lot the line reminds me of lines of today out into the esplanade.

The next series show Mickey Mouse greeting people, both inside the gates and just outside the gates. In the first photo, the lady appears to be holding a Kodak 8mm movie camera.

Here is Mickey outside the gate with the Monorail beam in the background.

Finally a nice family portrait of Mickey and Minnie.

Wow, look at that line! I'm not sure I've seen crowds like that waiting to get in in any early photos.

Any idea what year these are from?

The Mickey & Minnie are extra freaky due to the sculpting and their height! Great shots!

I'll throw my hat into the ring and guess 1960-1961based upon my "read" of the cars in the background and the monorail extension in place.

Some hate Circus Clowns, Some hate Rubber Heads.

Ever since I was two or three years old, I hated the rubber heads - they were obviously people in badly fitting costumes and I wanted nothing to do with such obvious and frightening fakes - to the point of throwing tantrums.

My parents quickly learned that if they wanted a pleasant day at Disneyland, avoid the rubber heads at all cost.

Very Scary Mice Indeed!

GAH! This Mickey and Minnie were so HUGE! I never knew about this version until I visited your page. It must have been murder walking around with those heavy looking masks...
