Summer and the Living Is Fine (and the Lines are Long!)

Summer is here and you know what that means....long, long, long, long lines at Disneyland. Here is a shot of the lines in the Summer of 1970. Get ready for that wait for Toy Story Midway Mania.

With this image came several other Tomorrowland images. I have posted the first one, but I am re posting so you can play find the yellow People Mover cars. (And I really like the colored People Mover rather than the white ones at the end of the attraction's life.)

Rare photo of the yellow Peoplemover AND the green Monorail. It they collide would they turn into a Blue Monomover?

The green Monorail, yeah! I have no photos of that.

In the same photo, you can see the Autopia, which amazes me. Isn't that right about where the Flight Circle used to be? How can we be seeing the Autopia? Maybe my locationator is way off?

That's the Fantasyland Autopia you see in the picture. Loved that Skyway ride over the Subs.

Oops..let me try again... in the same picture as the Monorail et. al., that is the T'land Autopia. It's not anywhere near the old flight circle. I recall that being in the same location or close to the current Orbiter location. Sorry about that.

It's so amazing that so many pictures that really aren't that good aesthetically end up looking so great and fascinating here. As a photographer myself, it makes me go back to the pictures I took as a kid that I left for scraps and re-evaluate them - what's in the picture that I didn't see before? This is such a fascinating site - thanks for your work!

The thing I'm always reminded of is amusement/theme parks weren't meant to be viewed from above; you see all the air conditioner units, utilitarian roofing, submarine cable tracks, and various illusion breakers. But I don't care, I think that photo of the monorail, submarine and Peoplemover is beautiful anyway.

That line reminds me of todays Finding Nemo openings!!! & that monorail looks like the new mark 7's sitting in the station ;) some things don't change hehe
