Souvenir Friday- Creole Cafe Menu 1968

For those who have read my blog for some time you know I love Disneyland Restaurant Menus. This is one of my favorites, the Creole Cafe in New Orleans Square. The restaurant is currently known as Cafe Orleans. The menu for the Creole and Cafe Orleans in the 1970s was very much the same. The menu has some great food to order. The menu is stitched together from several scans as it did not fit my scanner.

Fun item! Those prices are nuts, can you get ANYTHING at Disneyland for 90¢ anymore?? Do you know what year its from? Thanks for sharing.

You could get a Cherry Phosphate!? Sounds like something Alfalfa would have ordered.

Great menu Matterhorn.

A phosphate doesn't sound too tasty to me. Sounds like washing detergent!

VDT: The menu is from 1968 (so saith the copyright on the back).

Anon: Phosphates were popular at the turn of the century before carbonated beverages became widespread. They are a syrup based drink with a distinct tang from the phosphoric acid. BTW, they are absolutely delicious, our local "Swenson's Iced Cream Parlour and Goode Tyme Shoppe" used to serve them back in the 70's before they went under.

These are legit prices from the era. I worked Hill's Brothers in 1969 & 1970. In '69 the price for the same roast beef sandwich was $.85; it went to $.95 in '70. (Same price as an E ticket, too.)

Hmm, interesting. Anon #2 says that in 1970 a roast beef sandwich was the same price as a single "E" Ticket....

That means using reverse-parity the now unavailable "E" ticket would be worth over $10. Sounds to me like the price of food in Disneyland has gone up much faster than the cost of ride admissions.

I might have been off a year or two on the ticket price, but that's how I remember it.
