Train and Train Station August 4, 1956

Two views from the family who visited the park in August 4, 1956. First up is a view of the EP Ripley and train combine at the Main Street station. Quite a nice angle to see of the train and cars.

Next up is the obligatory image in front of the Main Street Station. For the poster fanatics, check out the rare three panel Frontierland poster.

Souvenir Friday- Disneyland at Night Magazine Cover

A nice cover featuring Disneyland at night from one of the myriad of magazines inserted into Sunday newspaper. This example is from March 27, 1960 and is the American Weekly and was inserted into the San Diego Evening Tribune. The cover features a great image of the Sleeping Beauty Castle on the front cover and a short article on Disneyland at Night. There is no other Disneyland story in the rest of the magazine.

Autopia- August 4, 1956

Two views of the car line up at the Autopia load area. Based upon the number of employees, the ride did not make very much money in the early years. Still, I like the composition of the first photo with the cars and the buckets from the Skyway.

World's Fair Wednesday- More 1933 Chicago Artist Renderings

Three more artist rendering images for the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. First up is a view of the Streets of Paris Village filled with restaurants and night clubs.

Next up is a view of the Walgreen building with the ice cream fountain and rotating tower.

Final image for today is an early version of the Sinclair dinosaurs.

Tomorrowland August 4, 1956

Two nice images from the same family that photographed the horses on Main Street. First up is a neat kind of abstract image of the speeding rockets on the Astro Jets. Note the boy is posing in front of the ride.

Next up is a fantastic shot of the TWA Rocket to the Moon. This is taken from an interesting location with the queue in the foreground, great Exit signs and quite a crowd in Tomorrowland.

Things From the Gate- 1976 Disneyland Advertising Brochure

These brochures can have very subtle changes. Collecting all of them is an obsession of mine. This brochure dates from 1976 and has some minor changes from the previously posted 1975 brochure. The first change is the removal of the 1975 logo on the front reading 20 Years of Happiness Come Live It Again. The other change is the date code on the back (3/76.) Surprisingly enough, the ticket prices did not change.

Horses on Main Street August 1956

This family really enjoyed the horses found on Main Street. The first three feature the Horse Drawn Trolley with the horse wearing a sun hat. The boy in the family is wearing his Chuck Taylor shoes.

Jungle Cruise Montage

An early type of Photoshop in which Disneyland publicity has cut out the image of the trapped safari and placed it in front of a photograph of a Jungle Cruise launch. This publicity photograph was published to promote the new additions to the Jungle Cruise in 1964.

Souvenir Friday- Disneyland Opening Day Information for Lessees

A couple of documents that the first lessees received in regards to the opening day at Disneyland. First up is a sheet detailing the information on the expectations for each store on opening day, including marking merchandise, trash, janitorial service and the plan for the Opening Day telecast.

The next document is the order of the Opening Day parade. Some fantastic information for those who like such details. Did you know the Indian Chief in the parade was Chief Flying Hoof riding his horse named Firewater? Or that the Orange Empire Council Boy Scout Order of Arrow scouts were part of the parade?

Criss-Cross In Tomorrowland

Disneyland's speedy monorail whisks silently over the Submarine Lagoon in Tomorrowland. Below, the submarine Skipjack begins a journey through liquid space to view the wonders of the deep. In the background are the skyway cable cars and rocket to the Moon, just a few of Disneyland's world famous adventures. (Caption attached to the reverse of the photograph.)

World's Fair Wednesdays- 1933 Chicago World's Fair Illustration

More images of the various art moderne and streamline moderne buildings for the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. First up is the Hall of Science with lots of vehicles around the building.

Next image is soaring Federal and States Building.

The Hall of Religion is a bit more traditional.

Crash Corrigan's Movie Ranch

Four snapshots of a family of two boys visiting Crash Corrigan and his movie ranch located in Simi Valley outside of Los Angeles. One of the neat attractions at the park was Crash himself was present on weekends. First up are two images of Tom and Crash.

Tom's brother Mike was a little more practical and had Crash autograph his brochure.

Last image appears to be a hanging party at the hanging tree.

Sorry for the delay, a little issue with my photograph loading program. Today's (late) post is the 1975 Disneyland advertising brochure. The brochure is totally redesigned with new images, cover and even a folding pattern.

Four Views From 1957

Four nice black and white views from 1957. First up is a nice image of the Clock of Tomorrow.

Next up is a couple of interesting views of the Jungle River Cruise. First up is a nice view of the outrigger.

I like the outrigger in the foreground featuring the skulls and in the background is a nice tiki.

Final view for today is a nice image of the horseless carriage in front of the Red Wagon Inn.

Two Views from July 1959

Two snapshots that make me smile. The photographs show how Disneyland made people, young and old, happy and more child like. Well, at least one half of the couple is happy and smiling.

Souvenir Friday- Lakeside Haunted Mansion Game Promotional Button

A very rare button for a popular Haunted Mansion collectible board game, the Lakeside Haunted Mansion game. I believe this button was given away at the New York Toy Far. Of course, I am looking forward to a fun Halloween season and this button is great for this time of year.

World's Fair Wednesday- More From 1933 Chicago Views

Three more artistic views from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. Electricity was still pretty novel and an entire building was devoted to the display of all the wonderful items electrical.

Next up is the transportation building, held up by sky hooks. A great design and reminiscent of many of the modern buildings that were built after the World's Fair.

Final image is the general exhibits building in a fantastic Art Moderne design. I am sure the exhibits had great deco and machine age design.
