Scenes Along the Rivers of America

A nice group of images taken from the Mark Twain. First up is the iconic Fort Wilderness on Tom Sawyer's Island. Note that a cast member has placed their jacket on the sign at the front entrance. Is that code for something, like putting a sock on the door handle to your dorm room in College?

Next up is everyone's favorite burning cabin. Note the settler is posed over a box.

A nice view of the Plantation Inn with the riverside gazebo in the lower left hand corner.

Final image an interesting view of the stagecoach and train. It looks like the photographer was just a couple of seconds too late.

World's Fair Wednesday- 1965 NYWF Thailand and Indonesia

Two views of each of these Nation's Pavilions. First up is a double shot of Thailand. The building design was inspired by a Buddhist temple and the roof was built in Thailand and shipped from there in pieces and rebuilt at New York.

Next up is Indonesia which pulled out of the Fair and did not exhibit in 1965. The withdrawal was due to Indonesia and American relations which fell apart.

Story Book and Tomorrowland 1959

First up is a nice shot of Casey Junior steaming through Story Book. In the background is the lovely Cinderella Castle.

A rarely seen view of Pinocchio's village with the three Old Mills in the background.

Next up is Tomorrowland with the exciting, thrilling and dangerous Motor Boat Cruise. I hope the riders are being careful and prepared.

The last image is of course my favorite, an early picture of the Matterhorn. A lucky shot as two bobsleds can be seen. The bobsleds are wonderfully colored rather than the boring white the bobsleds are painted today.

Stuff From the Park- Pancho Visits Ken-L-Land

The original sponsor of the dog and cat kennel located at the entrance to Disneyland was Ken-L-Rations. Using the alliteration to tie into the many lands of Disneyland, the kennel was named Ken-L-Land. Dogs and cats would stay there and have a fun filled day while the rest of the family enjoyed Disneyland. Of course the dogs and cats would be fed delicious Ken-L-Ration food. When the dog or cat was placed into the kennel, a registration was completed. The first picture is a registration form for Pancho in 1958.

A Visit to Disneyland- Part Two

More photographs of Fantasyland. First up is a photograph of Casey Jr. through the Pirate Ship.

Next up is Dumbo the Flying Elephant, which is everyone's favorite flying pachyderm.

A slightly blurry image of the Skyway Chalet with Dumbo in front. The book sign is still up advertising the attraction.

Kevin Kidney and Jody Dailey's next masterpiece in miniature is the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship shown here in natural color. It appears that the Tea Cups are being worked on.

A Visit to Fantasyland- Part One

More from the same photographer who visited Adventureland. First up is a classic post card shot of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Classic 1950s look at the castle with the Ice Cream Vendor at the Hub.

Next up is a series of three images taken from the Skyway. The middle one is quite nice from Snow Mountain which looks like big pile of dirt.

Souvenir Friday- Disneyland Hotel Gourmet Restaurant Menu

From the mid-1960s a menu from the Disneyland Hotel Gourmet Restaurant. The front cover features a great design of the hotel with the Monorail sweeping towards us.

The menu features some great choices...I think I will take a Frontier Land and a side order of Cole Slaw.

The back cover has an interesting Mod design.

A Visit to Adventureland

First up is the establishing shot for Adventureland with two lovely ladies posing by one of the Tikis in Adventureland. A well composed image with the sweeping A-Frame of the Adventureland Pavilion restaurant in the background.

A trip on the Jungle River Cruise is next. The adventure starts at the boathouse.

Three pictures of the various animals seen while on the cruise. First up is the Hippos attacking the boat.

Next up are the crocodiles.

A shot of the elephant in the bushes.

World's Fair Wednesday- Hong Kong and Interior of Korea

First up an exterior of the Hong Kong pavilion. It looks like a large piece of red lacquer furniture.

It is always interesting to see interiors of the pavilions.

Main Street 1959

From November 1959 some nice views of Main Street. First up is the Main Street Station. I love the attraction posters and the employee selling guide books.

The other side of the station showing the Omnibus with the great advertising signs on the side of bus. Quite a crowd milling about.

A view of the Horse Drawn Trolley. Love the hat on the horse and especially the attraction poster.

Last shot is of the Omnibus at the Hub with the Omnibus Stops Here sign. Check out the construction on the Sleeping Beauty Castle at the far left of the slide

Things From the Gate- Babes In Toyland Ticket Brochure

Another brochure that was filed in a different box. This Three Wonderful Ways to Visit Disneyland features the Babes in Toyland Movie exhibit in the Opera House as well as the construction notice. The interior with the large 1, 2 and 3 is nice as well. The brochure is number 12 and dated 1/62.

Parking and a Pig

Two images from November 1959. First up the parking lot that is now the esplanade. Disneyland is one of the only places where the sense of arrival is important.

Jungle Cruise and Nature's Wonderland

Three photographs of the Jungle River Cruise and one of Nature's Wonderland. First up is a nice image of the elephant bathing pool. It is okay, the elephants all have their trunks on.

A rather dark image of the Jungle residents attempting to attack the passing by boat.

Last image from the Jungle Cruise is the ancient Cambodian Shrine built by ancient Cambodian Shriners. I wonder what type of fez they wore?

Last image is of the rock formation for Nature's Wonderland in the Living Desert section. I believe these formations are still in existence at Disneyland.

Souvenir Friday- Magic Kingdom Club Ticket and Poster

This post is for Tim at Vintage Disneyland Tickets . First up is the 1959 Magic Kingdom Club card with the attached ticket vouchers. Note that the coupons expire September 13, 1959 and unfortunately two of the coupons are void due to being detached. Nice spot art of the castle and great typography for Disneyland and Magic Kingdom Club.

To add a little color, a poster from 1968 for Disneyland After Dark. The poster has a great Pop art design. Let's go to Disneyland after 4 PM and check out the performers.
