Fred Zinneman Visits Disneyland

In 1961 the director Fred Zinneman took a trip to Disneyland with his wife and his son. Fred is best known as the director of Shane along with From Here to Eternity, Oklahoma!, and A Man For All Seasons. The photographs were purchased from Fred's estate many years ago. It is interesting to see what things a movie director thought to take pictures. First up is the Pirate Ship from the Skyway.

He liked the crocodiles in the Jungle Cruise.

Lots of shots of the Matterhorn. I like the verticality of some of the images.

Very interesting, did you go to his estate sale? You'd think that there would be lots of cool stuff. His photos look an awful lot like photos by mere mortals though! ;-)

Major's being very tactful. Thank you Major.

A friend of mine who deals in paper and movie memorabilia went to the estate sale and picked these up for me. The sale was years ago!

Hmm, maybe Fred let his son handle the camera that day. Or it was one long 'wrap party' the night before...

Either way, no complaints here. Thanks, Patrick.

Major - That's why directors have cinematographers!
