Opening Day Snapshots- Part 7

One of the biggest events on Opening Day was the parade featuring characters and floats representing each land. Of course our photographer was there for the parade. First off is the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves float. The costumes were borrowed from the Ice Capades.

Next up are the Native Americans from Frontierland. In the middle of the street you can see the camera stand that was raised and lowered by a forklift. I like the camera guy in the striped referee shirt, co-ordinating the shot.

Finally a shot of the Fantasyland characters. The big guy is Roy Williams. I heard he had quite a sense of humor and probably enjoyed his costume and horse outfit. Also Peter Pan, Wendy and what looks like Cinderella are being chased by Minnie Mouse.

Wow, the opening day photos just keep coming! Those Dwarfs are just plain scary.

Hey, there's the Sunny View Farms store in the last picture...

Ditto what major said! These still continue to amaze me, I literally say a cuss word out loud when I look at these (not real bad cuss one). Thanks again for sharing this little slice of Disneyland history. Ok, I'll ask, how many of these are left????

Wow. Can’t get enough of these classic “you are there” shots. The Peter Pan, Wendy and Cinderella ladies did a dance in Fantasyland during the opening broadcast. What an incredible day!

By the way, it looks like a lot of these pictures were taken after the broadcast that day. I enjoyed the shot of Buddy Ebsen just “being a dad”.

Too bad they didn't clean up after the horses, before the Indians went by
Great to see all of these!
