Space Mountain Under Construction Steel and Crane

Continuing with the photographs of Space Mountain under construction in Disneyland. The first image shows the steel girders being installed for the Mission to Mars building. I am digging the El Camino parked on the construction site. The different colors of the steel create a great pattern to the picture.

The second image shows Space Mountain top with the giant crane in the background. The crane is placing steel girders for construction. The palm trees in the foreground are fantastic.

Both nice images today with nice coloring. I wonder when the PeopleMover track was extended into the Space Mountain complex during the construction process. Anyone know?

I didn't realize that the Flight to the Moon was modified when Space Mountain was built. I just thought they put in a new show. What changes were made when FTTM became MTM?

Well, it was done concurrent with the construction of the complex. The PM was down during that period as this extended the track into and out of the new buildings. KS (Former CM)

Thanks, KS. I always appreciate behind-the-scenes knowledge. I knew the PeopleMover was closed during Space Mountain construction, but was curious if the PeopleMover track extension was installed and completed before Space Mountain itself was actually completed and officially opened.
