Things From the Gate- Pirates of the Caribbean Opening Brochure

To advertise the opening of one of Disneyland's greatest attractions in 1967, Disneyland handed out this nice gate brochure. The front features the iconic auctioneer, while the interior features scenes from the ride as well as advertising for the Blue Bayou restaurant. The kid sitting in the front wearing the mouse ears looks kind of like Charles Phoenix. The back is blank backed.

I agree. I remember, watching the update on the TV show with Walt. Everyone just knew this attraction was just going to be special.

Really nice. I wonder how long they gave out this flyer? I've seen a neat Magic Kingdom Club item with the same image of the Auctioneer, only it's a lot bigger!

I don't think you'll be seeing the word "holocaust" in Disney flyers anytime soon. Nor do they promise a "gay old time" anymore.

Perhaps, when this silliness is over, I can "give a little applause for the girls, too"

I build one of the MPC Pirates of the Caribbean models about this time. Man, I wish I still had that thing!

The last time I rode Pirates I noticed they turned the lights almost completely off in the first plunge. In the old days it was partially lit which I think made it more fun. In the dark you don't get the same sensation of sliding down.
