Mickey, R2D2 and C3PO and Star Tours

In 1987, Disneyland opened the motion simulator ride Star Tours extending the Star Wars universe to Disneyland and this world. In order to promote the opening, Disneyland stayed open for 60 hours. Mickey got dressed up in his Tomorrowland costume (which looks like it was designed in the 1970s and not used much.) Also on hand were the two droids R2D2 and C3PO. Both droids are part of the attraction, one repairing a Star Speeder and one working on the Star Speeder you ride. Of course Disneyland used this opportunity to promote the attraction with the Star Wars characters.

LOL about Mickey's 70's costume, those rainbows really date it.... I wonder how much they'll change the exterior of this attraction, it already looks like they demo'd the door and entry way - I hope they redo all the stuff on top.

R2 & C3P0 must have just been staged for this photo or did they also roam Tomorrowland and mingle with the guests???

60 Hours continuously at Disneyland, I'm a big fan, but not sure I could deal with that - thousand of guests and no showers for almost three days????!

Was Star Tours the first major attraction to use such an advanced motion simulator? This was from the days before Disney was just trying to keep up. Grumble, grumble!
