A Family Trip To Disneyland May 1956 Part 6

After the excitement of Adventureland, the family headed over to Fantasyland. A quick rest on the benches at Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Of course the requisite shot of the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship. Look in the background for two workers constructing Storybook.

Since color film was readily available by the 50's, I wonder why people would go to a colorful place like Disneyland with black and white film! But I know that my own family took plenty of B&W photos even in the 60's. Anyway, I like 'em because they feel old!

Major, it was probably an economic decision. Color film cost a lot more. And if you didn’t have a slide projector you would have to pay for color prints. When I was a kid messing with photography B&W (Tri-X and Plus-X) was the only thing I could afford!

I love how people would get dressed up to go to Disneyland in those days. That little girl looks like she's dressed up for church!
