Holidayland with the Mousekeeters, In COLOR
One of the more unusual photographs in my collection is this image of Karen, Cubby, Doreen and Bobby hanging out in Holidayland. It must have been a colder day as they are all wearing their Mickey Mouse Club windbreakers. What makes it unusual is the hand coloring of the image. This may have been used as a publicity shot for printing in a Sunday News insert. It is a nice view of the playground equipment in Holidayland.

Another view of Disneyland I never expected to see... I think it's funny how they tried to dress up standard issue playground equipment.
What colors got hand painted? The sky is obvious (maybe it was a solid mass of gray clouds) and it looks like the Red-Blue stripe of the Merry Go Round got punched up a bit, as well as the spinner on top. Anything else?
An absolutely fantastic and unique Disneyland photo. A truly rare scene. Beauty!
Wowee! Super nice view of a rarely-photographed place. And it's extra nice that we get 4 original Mouseketeers for the price of one!
I've never seen a shot at this location before.
I think "punched up" is exactly the right way to describe the color. Just look at that lawn!
I think they took the photo on a mostly overcast day. The sun was hitting Holidayland (as evidenced by the shadows) but it was still pretty dark out and the colors wouldn't have "popped" without some help. Just a guess.
Amazing how with just a little color and small design flourishes, the early Disneyland designers can pack a lot of visual punch in the most mundane of environments.
Compare that to say, the current entrance way to the park or say the current TOMORROWLAND as a whole...
i don't ever recall seeing a photo of Holidayland other than aerials. thank you so much for this.
Whoa!
i think these were advertizing or promotional shots for the manufacture of the playground equipment ,saw afew from this set of photos before,
