Souvenir Friday- Marc Davis Lecture at Walt Disney Imagineering

Marc Davis is one of Disney's Nine Old Men as well as one of my favorite Imagineers. In 1992, Imagineering had Marc as a guest lecturer. In order to promote the event, WDI created this great poster featuring a sketch of Pirates. This poster has been signed by Marc to Leon Janzen. I miss Leon's friendship and the long discussions we would have about Disneyland at the local swap meets.

I was able to meet Marc Davis at a couple of Howard Lowery events, but I was too tongue-tied to say much. Great item!

Agree with Major, great post today! (Major that is really cool that you got to meet Marc too). What I find interesting is the concept of this lecture series. Do you know if WDI continued the "Evening with a Disney Master" lectures after this event? Also, I have a wonderful early 1980's video of Marc conducting a lecture at WED with all his art work. It was here we got the perfect quote to assist Jungle Cruise Skippers during our "Spiel Workshop." Marc said, "I just want to tell the guy to hush up for a moment and let me look at what's going on here." Good advice for Skippers then, now and always.

Chris Merritt would probably know if there were more lectures.

Thanks Patrick! I need to reach out to check in with Chris, so this gives me another good excuse. I continue to appreciate all you are doing with your blog. Don't grow weary of well doing.

Warmly,
