Belmont Park, Mission Beach, California

Two nice images from Belmont Park in Mission Beach, California. First up a view of the Giant Dipper from the parking lot. I love the Belmont Park sign on the front of the coaster.

Next up is a view of the fun land with the large Ferris wheel and other rides. I think this is early morning as the employees are checking out the operation of the attractions.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've never heard of Belmont Park. I assume it's long gone?

Me either! I have no idea where it was located.

The amusement park is still in existence. The roller coaster was restored 30 years ago and other rides have been added. The rides in the second photograph were removed in the 1970s. The roller coaster was almost burnt to the ground by some homeless people and then the city of San Diego wanted to bulldoze the coaster. The park is now open but the owner operator of the park is now in bankruptcy protection. However, you can go to San Diego to Mission Beach and ride this roller coaster.

That coaster is one great ride!

I rode it back in 1998. Glad to hear that it's still in operation.
