Ice Cream and Pinocchio 1962

In 1962 a family visited Disneyland. Over the next days I will show the pictures of the trip. First up is the family enjoying ice cream in Fantasyland.

Next up the kids posing in Fantasyland with Pinocchio. Notice another kid enjoying an ice cream.

Older brother also poses with Pinocchio. Of course, check out the lovely ticket booth.

These are great! I noticed something in the background of photo #1...but I don't know what it is. Any ideas?

I was wondering the same thing as Connie, but it's visible in all three pics. Maybe some kind of stage? A "meet and greet" platform? I think that second pic might be flip flopped. The Fantasyland Autopia sign appears to be backwards. When flipped the other way, the ticket booth goes back over to the right side of the pathway under the Monorail beam like in the third pic.

Two other signs that #2 is flipped:

1) Pinocchio's bangs change direction
2) Little girl's white hair bow changes sides

Hello all- yes picture #2 was flipped...I have corrected it now.

I think the mystery platform is a temporary band stand. It has a real "American Bandstand" (the TV show)early-mid 60's vibe to it.

I can picture Sandy Duncan singing "Inchworm" on it real easy, with TV cameras doing multiple cross-fades and very large hair styling.

Character interactions were pretty casual at this time, the dedicated Meet and Greet sites didn't come until much later, the 90's maybe...
