This is one of my favorite design cycles!!!!

I like how these say "Open every day all year 'round" I wonder when they started being closed Mondays and Tuesdays?

That 50's family with dad and his pipe is so cool!!!!! THANKS for posting these.

Awesome. Love those 50's graphics. Just one question though, why is Dumbo wearing a kilt? I never realized he was Scottish.

I was thinking the same thing as Vintage Disneyland Tickets... I thought that Disneyland was closed Mondays & Tuesdays into at least the 60's. Great flyer!

Big Thunder: You see Scotsmen in a lot of advertising art in the 40s and 50s. The idea is that the Scots had a reputation for being "thrifty", as the French had a rep. for being "lovers" and Germans represented "precision".

The message here is "If you want to save money, buy the ticket book."

This all died out when the civil rights movements took off in the mid 60s.

I don't have the information in front of me, but I think it was in 1957 that Disneyland briefly tried to stay open every day (after first being closed on Mondays, then Mondays and Tuesdays).

Some nonstandard nomenclature in here that you don't see too often--"The Riverboat Mark Twain" and "Adventureland Jungle Riverboat."

Katella Gate hit it right on the head, the elephant is to represent the Thrifty savings of ticket books.

Disneyland was closed on Monday, April 8, 1957, and Monday, September 15, 1958, and open every day inbetween.

Disneyland Holiday (Fall 1957):

"Good news for Fall visitors: Disneyland is now open every day, no matter what the season.

"Throughout the year, the Magic Kingdom is open seven days a week. During the Fall and Winter months, Disneyland's gates open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. On holidays, the Magic Kingdom is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m."

Disneylander (September 1957):

"Seven Days per Week - Year Round

"Disneyland will be open 7 days per week throughout the year. Disneyland is a world institution. Guests from all over the world deserve a chance to enjoy it, even though they can only come on Monday.

"How this will effect you personally will depend upon the schedule which your supervisor will work out for you."
