A Fun Playground

Today's find at the local swap meet was this series of five photographs of two young brothers at a fun playground. I believe this was probably somewhere in the greater Denver area, but may have been anywhere in the US. First up is a picture of the slide and a steel walkway to a slide.

A cute turtle structure to crawl on and one of the classic rocket ship structures in the background.

A fantastic sea monster sculpture and play structure.

My favorite image is of Sparky the Kangaroo trash can sculpture.

Wow, that IS a fun playground. So creative... I remember our school playground had a jungle gym in the shape of a huge (it seemed huge at the time anyway) submarine, it was super cool.

That sea creature looks like the work of artist Benjamin Dominguez. Here's a link to a site with photos of a similar sculpture, plus more fantastic concrete creatures of his.

We have a picture of us by a Sparky about 1962, but I know it wasn't in Colorado. Possibly Paul Bunyan Land or the LA Zoo. Not sure where we were.
