As Seen From the Skyway

Some very nice views taken from the Skyway. The first shows the iconic Tomorrowland structure, the TWA Rocket to the Moon along with a general view of the area.

The second shows the Storybook Canals load area and all the umbrella's in their bright colors.

The last image for today is a spectacular shot of the Skyway buckets riding over the construction site which will soon be turned into the Matterhorn. If you look closely in the lower left hand portion of the slide, you can see the Matterhorn advertising sign.

All three are very nice! I hadn't realized before now that the "Storybook Land" planting used to say "Story Book Land." I've seen it cited that way from time to time in print--now I know why!

Wow, I thought that first one was extra nice, until I saw the third one!! It's amazing to think how drastically this part of Disneyland would change in just a few short months. What a great shot of the earliest stages of construction!

Did the skyway buckets change design over time? I never got to ride those...before my time at DL. *sigh*

The third photo is fun--they didn't make as much of an effort to hide the construction projects back then, did they?

Pfeiffer: Yes there were two versions of Skyway buckets. The originals were round (as seen here) and seated two on individual chairs. In the early 60's (I think), they were replaced by larger, square units, seating a total of four on two benches facing each other.

I see two guys standing in the Flight Circle. Wonder who they could be?
