America On Parade Part 1

I do not have any memories of the America on Parade event at Disneyland. I believe that due to the crowds, my family did not make the drive up to Anaheim to see the event. However I am kind of glad as these characters could give me nightmares. I know the vision by the designer was meant to remind people of giant dolls, but the execution of the design is kind of creepy.

Kind of creepy is right, especially when you can see the little cast members' faces through the doll's necks...*shudder*

These are similar to the Brazilian festival masks, mardi gras etc. Very weird to me.

It was an astonishingly wonderful and patriotic parade. Although I missed the Electrical Parade the summers of '75 and '76, I was so proud to be an American by watching America on Parade. The companion book literally taught me the American History my crummy high school teachers overlooked or neglected. I always remember it fondly.
