Souvenir Friday- Dixieland at Disneyland Program 1961
Growing up I never listened to Dixieland music, rather I was listening to early Rock and Roll and Surf music. However, as I began to collect Disneyland memorabilia, I began to listen to Dixieland as I learned about the Firehouse Five Plus 2. Then I found this program and began to wonder how it would have been to listen to the greats of Dixieland at Disneyland. Every time I ride the Mark Twain, I picture Louis Armstrong playing and singing on the small stage. The other great part of this program is the fun graphics on the cover and the interior program. I love the crowded Mark Twain on the cover with multiple musicians, dancers and singers.

How cool would it have been to see Louis Armstrong at Disneyland? Every time I'm on the Mark Twain I visit his "spot" and tell folks who once stood there...
Great cover and super drawings inside, is this one of those business card size fold up deals?
Tim- this is a fairly large brochure. When it is fully folded out, it is bigger than my scanner and I had to join the two images together.
Holy smokes! What a fantastic flyer, and one I've never seen before EVER. It must be hella rare! I love the little drawings of the Plantation House, Plaza Gardens, and 20K.
O tempora! O mores! This is the aspect of Disneyland I completely missed out on, mostly because of my age (I was one year old when this event took place).
Can you imagine going to Disneyland and seeing a world-class musician like Armstrong? How classy is that!
And even if you could get the brass to sign off on a non-Disney entertainer showing up and performing, who would it be?
Slim pickings indeed.
You have seen Louis Armstrong on the Mark Twain in the "Disneyland after Dark" special on the "Walt Disney Treasures: Disneyland, USA" DVD, right?
