I can't imagine sculpting something as large as that elephant. Looking at those shop fans in the first photo makes me think that the building probably got really hot in the summer (and pretty cold in the winter too).
Should those last two photos reference the African Elephant, not lion?

Anonymous-you are absolutely correct- African Elephants. The True to Life picture the African Lion got stuck in my head!
