Views From a Peoplemover- 1970

When Disneyland fanatics get together, one topic that usually comes up is what is your favorite attraction that is now gone. The Peoplemover in Tomorrowland is usually in the top 5 ot that list. The ride was a slow, graceful ride through and over Tomorrowland. During the ride, one could rest and relax. Many people enjoyed the length of the ride as it gave them time to take a load off of their feet. Others enjoyed the unique views of Tomorrowland. In later years, effects were added to the tunnels including a nice Tron themed tunnel.
Here are some views taken by the family that loved Tom's Treehouse. All of these were taken from within the Peoplemover ride vehicles. First off is a view of the castle with the alpine gardens to the right (once home to the house of the future.)

A view of the Carousel of Progress and the Coca Cola Tomorrowland restaurant and stage.

The Autopia track and the Motorboat Cruise.

Leaving the Peoplemover station with the Rocket Jets overhead.

Wow! These are awesome! Makes me sad the Motor Boat Lagoon was filled in. How much more thrilling Autopia most gave been driving over water?!

The last shot is reversed - my Home away drom home (Howard Johnson's) has moved South down Harbor Blvd!

Thanks for the retro trip on the PeopleMover, that was fun! With all the fan buzz about the PeopleMover, why not just restore it? It can't cost any more than adding Nemo to the Subs at 150 million, heck I could do it for half that amount!

Thanks Hrundi- I have fixed the picture and now the Howard Johnson's is back to normal.

Oh man, that last photo is particularly great. I can almost feel the rumbling, slightly bumpy ride!

A friend asked me if there was any mention of the Peoplemover coming back at the D-23 Expo. As far as I know, nobody said a word about it!

On another subject, have you heard about the end part of the "Radiator Springs Racers" in Carsland? It will be a kind of "Rainbow Caverns" thing, which sounds cool.

Beautiful expose. The attraction is greatly missed, but I don't ever see it coming back.

I think photo #3 is reversed too - I don't recall the subs ever going in that direction...

Hey Sky Magic- thanks. You are correct, #3 was reversed. Wow, it was not a good morning for me!
