Frontierland Stockade

Two more early publicity photographs, this time showing the Frontierland Stockade Entrance. The first is an unusual view with Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background and chopped trees in the foreground.

The second is a more traditional view and dates from about 1961. Caption taped to the back reads: Frontierland in Disneyland, gateway to adventures down the Rivers of America on the Mark Twain Riverboat or the sailing ship Columbia; Tom Sawyer's Island; to Nature's Wonderland by Mine Train or Pack Mule; The Golden Horseshoe Revue; and all the romance of frontier America.

I wonder how long those tree stumps were there? It looks like there's still at least one in the 1961 photo as well. I like the suggestion that the "forest" had just been cleared to supply logs for the stockade.
