Souvenir Friday- Disneyland Hotel Keys

Today's souvenirs are of Disneyland Hotel Keys. I have managed to acquire several different versions of the keys. An interesting fact is that the keys are all Yale and Towne keys. Yale was the official lock shop of Disneyland. Of course these days, the locks are all electronic and the card has cute Disney graphics.

Since it is February 29th, I would like to wish you all a Happy Leap Year. This is a postcard from my collection celebrating the same event 100 years ago! I believe the tradition is that girls can propose to guys on the day.

Leap year is cool!

I wonder how many Disneyland keys "went missing" over the years? Hundreds, maybe thousands?

Super key collection! I always wondered, did they change the lock if some kept the key? Or could you sneak back in months later?

Whoa, here I am, reading your blog and all of sudden, Wham, I'm told girls can propose to guys on leap year day! Never heard that before, had I known I would not have left the house....

I have some great newspaper articles I scanned to send you on the Yale locks. My email is donballard@comcast.net. Drop me a line and I will email them to you.

Hi, I have two older Disneyland Hotel keys that are made of plastic and have holes punched in the top portion. They have Mickey's hand pointing the way to insert the key and it says "Disneyland Hotel" and has a picture of the castle. The back says American express. Any idea when these were used? I couldn't find any info on them or any for sale on ebay. Thanks for any information you can give.
