SOP Saturday- Your Role in the Disneyland Show 1957

Rather than a specific attraction SOP, I have decided to showcase one of the first new employee orientation guides to the new fangled park of Disneyland. The title Your Role in the Disneyland Show should sound familar as Disneyland has used it for a number of orientation training guides throughout the years. This one is special as it is dated 1955 and sets down the culture of working at Disneyland that was to remain consistent for a long time...maybe even up to today. Another interesting note about this is it is copyright Disneyland Inc in 1955 but states information about 1957 and the characters that are used are under Walt Disney Productions copyright and used with permission. You can see that Disneyland was set up as a completely different company in the beginning, just in case it failed. So sit back, take some notes if you want, and pay attention on how to become a Disneylander in 1957.

Keeping up with the Christmas at Disneyland images, here is one of the Christmas from Many Lands parade unit, this is Germany with the group pulling a nicely decorated Tannenbaum while wearing Lederhosen. I will be showing a whole series of this parade all from the same perspective. I believe the photographer was standing in the old Dixieland bandstand that was right on the Rivers of America. I also want to point out the old Slue Foot Sue sign out front on the Golden Horseshoe Revue building, featuring Slue Foot Sue from the animated cartoon.

What an amazing item, especially being so early. It'll be fun to go through and read the whole thing.

I just found a slide showing the Slue Foot Sue sign, and was all excited. Two days later, you put up a nicer image of it! ;-)

Man how much cool stuff do you have!!!! Another killer piece of Disneyland history!!!The map is a real Gem. The date is a bit confusing. If you look at the map it shows the skyway, astrojets, holidayland, and the building that looks like it houses the Grand Canyon Diorama (the train tracks go through the building). I have a postcard folder that says Disneyland copyright 1955 but has pictures in of attractions that didn't open till 1956 and 1957. I think the "Disneyland copyright 1955" refers to the date the word "Disneyland" was copyright and not the age of the document. I think the SOP must be from 1957-58 time frame if it has those attractions on the map. Thanks again for taking so much time to load ALL of those pages!!!! It's an absolutely fascinating document!!! Disneydutchman is right...if you look on page 3 of the booklet, it mentions that..."As of 1957, we find that our guest spends $2.72 for parking, rides, and admission."

But it's still an amazing item!

Hey you guys are right, I forgot about the date being in the booklet (plus there is the ticket book prices listed.) I just had not looked at the booklet in a while.
