More Information on Yesterday's Image

I went back to the original slide and lightened the image. The Richfield show can be seen as well as the ticket booth and mural for Satellite View of America. It appears this was an art show just placed up in the overhang of this building. When I went back to the image, I found the following image as well:

Which shows the same art festival but on the opposite side of Tomorrowland from the first building. By lightening up the image, the building reveals it is the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Walk Through Attraction.

I am assuming this art show was in late 1959 or early 1960 as the Satellite View of America closed in 1960 for the Circle Vision theater. Here is the original image from yesterday:

Thanks to everyone for your comments.

Awesome! The Satellite View Of America is another attraction I wish I had more information on... Or at least a better photo of the exterior.

It's so surprising that they would hide these wonderful exteriors (20K walk through, Richfield Show, Satellite View) with all the Art for sale...

Wow. More great stuff! Like Tangaroa, I have always hoped to see a nice color photo of "Satellite View of America", exterior OR interior, or better yet, both! And how can there be no nice color pictures of the exterior of "20,000 Leagues"?? It was there for about 10 years, and a lot of shutterbugs were nearby. Someday one is bound to show up!

I think that this is actually the Art Corner where they used to sell animation art and Roy Williams (the big mousketeer) would sometimes draw

It is not the Art Corner as that was located in the square shaped building seen in the background.

I can EXACTLY tell you what year the photo was taken that has the caption: "I am assuming this art show was in late 1959 or early 1960 as the Satellite View of America closed in 1960 for the Circle Vision theater. Here is the original image from yesterday..." IT WASN'T AN ART SHOW, AND THE YEAR WAS 1955. I know this because I was there! You're not looking at an art show; you're looking at the large, wooden boards that were set up Directly Outside the 1955 Disneyland 20,000 LEAGUES EXHIBIT, with photos from the movie on them (you can see the 8"x10" black & white stills). 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA came out on Christmas Day, 1954. My parents took my brother & I, and we went Crazy over the film! (We wound up seeing it 3 times back then). In January or February, 1955, our family visted Disneyland, just a few weeks after the movie had been playing. When we found out there was an exhibit on 20,000 showing the movie sets (all the Nautilus interiors!), we begged our parents to take us there first. I have very vivid memories of walking up to this exhibit in Tomorrowland, seeing the photographs on the boards right in front of the box office, and going up really close to examine them, staring at the pictures of the divers especially, for a long time. These 'photo boards' were there in front of the 20,000 LEAGUES Exhibit for about a year. When I returned in 1956 with my family, these 'photo boards' were gone. So there you go - it wasn't an art show in these pictures...you've got the ONLY photograph I have EVER seen showing the 'photo boards' in front of the 20,000 LEAGUES Exhbit. Thank you so much for putting this picture up on the web - and then doing that incredible, beautiful Enlargement that reveals everything!! - Larry Brooks
