Souvenir Friday- Map of Never Never Land

There are items I have that I have owned for a very long time that I have not been able to figure out the original use. An example is this nice print of Never Never Land from Peter Pan. The print is copyright 1956, a couple years after the original release or the film. The print is on a nice heavy weight paper. It appears to be miscut with something printed on the right hand side. The one thing I do know is that it is a fantastic art piece. I believe this was done by Mary Blair, or if not by her, by one of her compatriots in her style.

I think it was a christmas card from 1953, with the calender bit on the right cut off.

Scroll down (past other beautifully illustrated, watermark-free scans of Disney Xmas cards.)

Didn't they only refer to it as "Neverland" in the actual film? I remember they used to point out the storage area where the Storybook Land Canal Boats would "sleep at night", and call it "Never Never Land" ("because we never, never take you in there!")

Stupid question - who's the artist?

Jay- thanks for the link. However the Christmas card does not have a copyright on it, and my piece has a very distinct copyright 1956 on it. I wish it was part of the Christmas card....

Mr. Brown- it looks like a Mary Blair piece, but other Disney artists did pieces that look very similar.

Sure looks like the Christmas card. You can see part of the same calendar on the right side. And the copyright just got clipped on the bottom of the Christmas card.
