Hills Brothers Interior Part 1

Still stuck on the collection of Polaroid shots for remodeling and rehabbing buildings on Main Street. This set was taken for a project dealing with the Hills Brothers Coffee Shop. Based upon the photographs, the project was looking at the kitchen pass through area as well as the interior dining room. I have scanned the images as I found them, taped to yellow legal paper.

Thank you so much for this. I have often said that this is one of my most favorite locations in the park. So many wonderful memories of sights, sounds, smell and taste linger to this day in my mind from sitting right there and anticipating a day in the 'Happiest Place on Earth'. I look forward to the other pictures in this set. My coffee taste so much better this morning; thanks again.

Indeed, this series of photos is remarkable but what I love even more is that they got into your hands and are no longer at the Park offices!!

Whoa, never seen interiors of the Hills Bros. restaurant before!

Ditto what Major Said! Hills Bros was well before my time, and the photos are quite interesting.

I was in this building only once when it was the egg restaurant, some where in the 70's, which had the same subdued lighting as I recall.

I am pleasantly shocked to see these. And to hear the positive comments. I spent 2 summers working at Hill's Bros. ('69-'70) behind that kitchen pass-through window. The blind directly to the left of the window was a swing door. The waitresses would open the door to get to a water dispenser. We behind the scenes would crack jokes and other hijinks. Yes, it was a happy place that sadly has been lost. It was a great crew; like family siblings. I have an album that I've treasured all these years wondering what became of them all. I re-connected with a former summer 'flame' from that crew just last year. Our first date was when they quickly closed the park early on Yippe Day (yikes...40 years ago next month). Sorry to be blathering but it brings back so many wonderful memories. My "lead" was Oscar Martinez...who is a Disney legacy employee. I transferred to rides in late '70 but always considered Hills Bros. to be my true Disney "home". Hey, I still have my canoe race T-Shirt ("Hill's Angels"). How great it would be to see the team again. Thanks so much!

Did you know Bill Buffington or Mr Craig? I knew them and Lynn Blanchette. Wurlitzer Hiuse was next door and I used to play the piano there once in a while. Do you have a picture of the chandelier that hung over the circular sofa in the lobby of Hills Bros? It cost $25,000 and disappeared after Hills closed down. Maxwell Coffe put it there when the park opened. Frank Marter
