Boy in Frontierland

Starting up after a 2 week trip to California. While at the Disney Show, I purchased a small selection of slides. These three slides which feature the early Frontierland were part of the grouping. Unfortunately the photographer did not have the best focus, but the views are still good. The first shows the teenage boy hanging out at Fort Wilderness. This is one of the side gates. I like the engineering above the gate, allowing the gate to be closed quickly in the event of an Indian (or Pirates, or gang of desperadoes or crowd of guests) attack.

The next image shows the bustling street with the Disneyland Horse Corral on the right and in the background the colorful billboard for the Rainbow Caverns Mine Train.

The last shot is the best. Ricky (he looks like a Ricky) is being held up by the infamous and nefarious Black Bart. Look at how shiny the boots and pants are for Black Bart. Also notice Mineral Hall in the background and how close the line is to Rainbow Ridge.

Welcome back! We missed ya! Horse Corral you say? Yep, I can see it - but I seem to have a serious gap in my DL History. I seem to be seriously turned around, it's location appears to be apprx where the shooting gallery is today?

Welcome back, Matterhorn! These are really great; love the old west "emergency door"... that second photo is a very unusual angle, and it's neat to see the Rainbow Caverns billboard... and you are right, that last one is the best!

Great shots.

Rather than Fort Wilderness in that first shot, isn't that the side gate that leads to Carnation Gardens at the Frontierland entry?

Welcome back!

Hrundi- the horse corral is approximately where the shooting gallery is located, and also where the walkway to El Zocala is currently located.

Outside the Berm- I believe you are correct. The planting and the benches is what threw me off. Fort Wilderness has taller walls as well...Thanks.

That Black Bart shot with the ace in his hat was well worth the wait!

I'm loving Ricky's dungarees and argyle socks! So much better than the current oversized lowrider shorts and baggy t-shirts.

Maybe that's why Black Bart wanted to shoot him?
