Souvenir Friday- Early Disneyland Letter

A nice letter from Ed Ettinger, the director of publicity to Jimmy Star of the LA Herald Express. The letter is thanking Jimmy for his kind words for Disneyland. Ed was the first director of publicity at Disneyland. Jimmy was the entertainment reporter for the Herald Express. However, there may have been some self serving as Jimmy also ran the Movie Star shop "Show Business" on Main Street. Still an interesting letter showing how Disneyland was being seen by the public and the press in 1955.

What an interesting letter! Cool that it was to Jimmy Starr, as well. And on that wonderful Disneyland stationary!

I met Ed Ettinger in the 80's while working on the Queen Mary. Jack Wrather had acquired the lease, and since he owned the Disneyland Hotel, he brought Ed down to the ship a few times to get is thoughts on improving the place because "he helped design Disneyland".

Since I was in charge of the exhibits department, I thought I needed to talk to this man ASAP. It was only as the conversation unfolded that I found out that he was in publicity, not design. Hurrumph!
