My guess is that the statue is of David. He was a shepard, and it looks like he's getting his rock ready for Goliath.
That neato Hall of Science building would draw me in!
I am amazed at how many photos I have found of the Mormon pavilion... did lots of Mormons go to the fair, and I just happened to acquire their slides?
Interesting fact: when the Fair was over, the huge concrete slabs that were used in the pavilion were moved to Plainview, NY, and were rebuilt into a church for the local Mormon congregation there. Since almost 6 million people toured the Mormon pavilion, it's no wonder there's lots of slides!
The Hall of Science still stands in all it's glory I was in there this summer during Maker Fair. As cool as it looks from the outside it is just as cool if not cooler on the inside.
