Parking and a Pig

Two images from November 1959. First up the parking lot that is now the esplanade. Disneyland is one of the only places where the sense of arrival is important.

A nice image of a little girl holding hands with one of the pigs.

Thats an awesome parking lot photo, the "sense of arrival" has completely changed now-a-days.

Second pic: did that pig escape from the set of Rosemary's Baby?

As always, my heart jumps and shouts with joy. No where was such a vast expanse of concrete ever so delightful as in the past corridors of my memory. The very air there, upon opening the car door and letting it into you lungs seemed to just take you to a lace of wonder. The sounds would bring hints of excitement and the smells promised of warm and comfort as if you were home. It was just a lot of concrete and some spay pain; but it was hollowed ground. It was where those special days of youth began. Days that were a part from reality and formed what should have been for us all. Yes indeed, the best possible use of 100 acres anywhere at any time.

Love that photo of the pig and the little girl! You've had a lot of really exceptional stuff recently, and that's saying something.

Random observation: It struck me when I looked at the first photo that all of the vehicles in the shot are either red, white, or blue and there are only a few people in the crowd who aren't wearing one of those colors. Then it was even more surreal to scroll down to the next photo and find the pig in blue and the girl in red and white. It's obviously not the fourth of July (since the photo is listed as being taken in November) so I can only assume that everyone just felt particularly patriotic that day?
