Speed by Joseph Reiner New York World's Fair 1939
An allegorical statue showing the speed of communication is Speed by Joseph Reiner. Placed in the Court of Communications the statue features a speeding horse with wings ridden by a muscular rider. The decoration on the building in the background looks like the Cowan Pottery Jazz Bowl.

1939 New York World's Fair Europa Statue
A very Art Deco statue is Europa by Gleb W. Derujinsky. The statue was found in front of the railroad building. Europa is the mother of King Minos of Crete and is seduced by Zeus. Zeus assumes the shape of a white bull and Europa climbs on the back of the bull which runs into the surf and to an island and reveals himself as Zeus.

1939 New York World's Fair At Night
Two small snapshots of the 1939 New York World's Fair. First is the reflecting pool with the statue of George Washington in front of the Trylon and Perisphere lit up with some great lighting. Of course these were the main symbols for the fair.
The second image is of the Lifesaver parachute drop at night with a couple of the parachutes being dropped with happy visitors riding.

Columbia at Fowler's Harbor Sign
The Columbia Sign at Fowler's Harbor has a nice design. The location was the dry dock used to maintain both the Columbia and the Mark Twain. In this image, the Mark Twain is sitting at the dock. This dock was used for the Below Decks when the Columbia was not sailing. In this case, the attraction is closed.

Second Photo of Goofy At Coke Corner
The second image of Goofy hanging out at Coke Corner from the LAPD day at Disneyland in the late 1960s. Goofy seems rather interested in the piano player. I think I like the piano being inside the restaurant rather than outside as it is now.

Riding The Rails Nature Wonderland Railroad
A nice view from one of the railroad cars on Nature's Wonderland. Everybody wave to the happy guests on the Mike Fink Keelboat as they pass by us. The engineer sure looks like a salty character...I like the way he wears his hat.

Wrangling Balloons
A tough job on a windy day is wrangling balloons in Disneyland. Some nice details in this image with the lovely plaid pants and the chic outfit on the right hand side. The two young guests are drinking out of the classic 1970s drink cups.

Souvenir Friday: Little Friends Send Greetings From Disneyland
Three fun little souvenirs from Disneyland. Cute brightly colored wooden figures of birds and a gnome send greetings. The coolest part of these little souvenirs are the paper tags the figures are glued onto.

Pendleton Exhibit Frontierland
One of my favorite shops in Disneyland was the Pendleton exhibit in Frontierland. The store featured the full range of Pendleton clothing and blankets. Though I never purchased anything, it was fun to look at the clothing and also the decorations inside the store.

Haunted Mansion Exit Sign
An example of the sign painters art is this small exit sign from the Haunted Mansion. The sign features great font and style for such a small touch that most guests do not notice.

My Baloney Has A First Name,
And it's Oscar, and my baloney has a second name, it's Mayer and it sponsors the River Belle Terrace. A wonderful image from the sign photograph collection. I believe this image is circa early 1970s.

Main Street Musicians
Continuing the slides from a day at Disneyland enjoyed by the LAPD and their families. The Disneyland band has broken into various smaller bands and this Main Street band is playing next to Carnation Gardens. Check out the goatee on the drummer, looks like he moonlights in a jazz band or folk band.

Souvenir Friday- Monorail Souvenir Pen
One of my favorite souvenirs is this pen that is a Monorail...and not only a monorail but a Disneyland Alweg Monorail. I assume this pen was sold, but it may have been a give away promotional item from Alweg. Anyone out there have another one of these?

A great and scarce interior image featuring the Coke Corner Piano player with Goofy "singing" along. This image is very cool and an interesting view.

LAPD Day Fantasyland Balloon Seller
A nice view of the balloon seller in the courtyard of Sleeping Beauty Castle. I like the balloon seller costumes although I am sure the cast member did not like the costume. In the background is the Tinkerbell Toy Shop.

Welcome LAPD Families
I just ran across this nice set of slides that I have had a long time hidden in a box. The slides were taken when the LAPD had a special day at Disneyland. The first image shows the Fred Gurley at the Main Street Station with the neat banner over the left hand tunnel. The slide captures a rather large crowd.
