Jack and Betty Visit Disneyland 1959

A small group of slides marked Jack and Betty 1959. First up is a nice image of the lovely couple in front of the Adventureland gates. For those who belong to D23, the decorations came from Oceanic Arts in Whittier.

Next up the couple pose on Tom Sawyer's tree house.

Both are carrying a Tom Sawyer Map and what appears to be one of the fish wrapped in the paper bag.

And this slide is marked Us at Disneyland with the same date....I am going to name this couple as Helen and Bob. They were friends of Jack and Betty.

World's Fair Wednesday- 1958 Brussels World's Fair at Night

The Atomium was the theme structure at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. I have many views of the building during the day, but this night shot is spectacular.

Next up is a time lapse sequence of the fountains by the Welcome Building.

The Mighty Matterhorn

An exploration of one of my favorite rides- the Matterhorn Bobsleds. First up is a nice view of the Matterhorn mountain from the Submarine Voyage.

A nice view of the Fantasyland load area. The color of the bobsleds are so mod, I kind of wish they would bring back the brightly colored bobsleds.

An opposite view of the ride, the splashdown on the Tomorrowland side.

I leave you today with the melodic sounds of an accordian playing Germanic Swiss music on the slopes of the Matterhorn.

Things From the Gate- 1957 Advertising Brochure

In 1957, Disneyland published a magazine named Disneyland Holiday to distribute to the various motels and hotels in the Southern California area. In addition, the marketing department created a new advertising brochure which used the same interior photos as the centerfold of the new magazine, as well as the map from the back cover. The first brochure has a pink cover and features much the same information as the previous brochure.

Main Street Memories

Years ago the band used to play concerts on the Town Square to large crowds.

People posed by the standard town memorial cannons.

Train stations had mice in front of the building.

For a little color.....

Souvenir Friday- Monsanto HOF Ephemera

The Monsanto House of the Future showcased not only the plastic design of the house, but also featured many modern home furnishings from various manufacturers. To promote these manufacturers a couple of advertising sheets were handed out. First up is the 1957 version with a great image of the house with a car parked and Mom and Dad having a romantic moment.

Reverse is a listing of the manufacturers.

In 1960, a similar sheet was created although not as graphic. The front features the list of manufacturers.

The reverse features designers, I especially like the revolving plastic screens designed by John Hench.

Things From the Gate- 1956 Disneyland Advertising Brochure

Not much difference between this version of the advertising brochure and the 1955 version. The big change is the description of ticket books on the last page, with the removal of the advertising blurb for the Disneyland Hotel.

Cute Kids at Disneyland

These images are fun photographs showing the pure joy I feel when I am at Disneyland. Although not showing any thing rare or odd, these photographs show one of the reasons I collect Disneyland items....the fun and joy of being at Disneyland.

My favorite- a kid, a balloon and Disneyland.
