Souvenir Friday- Monsanto HOF Ephemera

The Monsanto House of the Future showcased not only the plastic design of the house, but also featured many modern home furnishings from various manufacturers. To promote these manufacturers a couple of advertising sheets were handed out. First up is the 1957 version with a great image of the house with a car parked and Mom and Dad having a romantic moment.

Reverse is a listing of the manufacturers.

In 1960, a similar sheet was created although not as graphic. The front features the list of manufacturers.

The reverse features designers, I especially like the revolving plastic screens designed by John Hench.

It's really interesting how many of those companies were lessees/sponsors elsewhere at DIsneyland.

I am trying to imagine what exactly the revolving transparent plastic louvered screen looked like!

"Dutch Boy Paints, brought to you by the National Lead Company... Use Dutch Boy, because our paints are only moderately toxic."

Progressland: I'm sure there was a serious attempt to get existing D'land sponsors on board with the HOTF project. I can see real unhappiness if a competitor is brought into the picture.

I love the opening picture and how they managed to sneak in a car.
