Lazy Days

The month of October at Disneyland offers guests a less hurried pace and cooler temperatures for the enjoyment of more than 50 attractions in seven themed lands, including the thrilling "Splash Mountain" attraction in Critter Country. Guests can paddle their way around the Rivers of American in one of Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes or cruise aboard the stately steam-powered Mark Twain stern-wheeler. The weekend offers performances of the "Party Gras" Parade and the Dicke Tracy musical stage show, "Diamond Double-Cross."

Publicity still from 1990 found at the Disney show.

World's Fair Wednesday- Even More 1958 Brussel's Buildings

Still visiting the Brussels World's Fair in 1958...showcasing the fantastic modern architecture of the Pavilions. First up is the fantastic glass and metal structure for Portugal. I like the forest in the background.

Next up is Canada. I like the sculpture in the middle of the trees.

One of the most stunning images in the set is the rising spire and large glass structure for France. This image is taken from the US Pavilion.

The last image for today is a pretty entertaining building from the Netherlands. The building looks like a shell waiting for a large crab settle in.

Main Street In Black and White 1959

From an unusual collection of black and white slides from 1959 is this set of images of Main Street in 1959. First up is a shot of the Horse Drawn Fire Wagon.

Next up are two shots of Vesey Walker leading the Disneyland band on Main Street. The Emporium in the background is very nice.

The flag raising concert in Town Square as seen from a Horse Drawn Surrey. Check out the fashion choices.

Things From the Gate- MTA Guided Tour Brochure

Cheating a little as this brochure was most likely available at local hotels, motels and at the MTA terminal, but it does deal with a unique offer of a bus ride to Disneyland and then a guided tour of the park. The graphics appear to be the ones used for the early ticket fliers. The brochure is dated 1958.

Fowler's Harbor

A lovely early image of Fowler's Harbor with the Keel Boat and construction material and supplies in the background.

I will be at the Disney show today, so if you are coming to the show, stop by and say Hello.

Mystery Gate

I think this is the gate at the very end of New Orleans Square, but it could be also a gate in Adventureland. Hopefully one of you out there in blogland will know and remember this gate. This image is from the same contact sheet that has the images Iposted on Tuesday and Thursday.

By the way I love the Landscaping Love People bumpersticker on the workers locker.

Souvenir Friday- Haunted Mansion Gravestones

To promote and merchandise the Haunted Mansion, Disneyland had the Randotti company create gravestones which cast members would add names to humorous sayings. The sayings were reminiscent of the humor seen in boot hill cemeteries in the Old West.

Another Early Morning at Disneyland

More nice early morning images taken at Disneyland before opening. First up are two nice landscape images taken outside of the Storybook Canal Boats featuring the single tree. I like the cast member sitting on his own in the first image.

Going to a completely different area of the park, a nice view of the McDonnel Douglas Flight to the Moon ride. It is a nice and lovely view.

World's Fair Wednesday- More 1958 Brussel's World's Fair Buildings

More views of modern buildings showcasing countries at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. First up is Tunisia with the Phillip's Radio in the back ground.

Next up is a large classical style building for Arab States. A nice fountain in the front helps to soften the size of the building.

Luxemburg looks like a library on a college campus. The cart in the foreground offers a nice interesting touch.

Looking like an apartment complex, the pavilion for Spain. Still a nice modern building and I would not mind living there.

Early One Morning at Story Book

From a contact print, some nice images of the Story Book Canal boats. First up are the canal boats all tied up to the dock on a calm morning.

Also seen early in the morning is Monstro and the light house ticket booth.

A close up of the sign for those who enjoy such images.

Things From the Gate- Enchanted Tiki Room Brochure

The best Enchanted Tiki Room Brochure is this green one with fantastic graphics of tikis, birds and the fountain as well as the description of the unique attraction. This is one of the first public places where the WED logo was seen and also features the head of Walt on the reverse. Always a popular brochure when one comes up for sale.

A Couple of Days at Walt Disney World 1972

Dating from July 1972 is a family trip that was over a couple of days. First up is the classic image in front of the Magic Kingdom Railroad Station.

Next up is the family posing with B'rer Fox.

These two images appear to be taken the next day. The images are taken at the same location as you can see the second one had a bit of strap in the image.

Polaroid Images 1960s

Some classic images...that appear to have been taken by a young kid. The first image cuts off the subjects, but it does show the nice rock work of Tom Sawyer's Island.

This image is a little better composed with the two youngsters perusing a ticket book.

A nice pose in front of Storybook Land...note the ticket book in the hand of the girl on the left.

What I feel is the best image of the group, a shot of the Alice In Wonderland attraction where the mushroom is still a working ticket booth.

For the sign obssessed, a close image of the ticket booth sign.

From Disneyland, the first few pages of the May 28, 1956 Telephone directory.

Let me know if you want to see more of the directory with the names of the employees.

Monstro a Poolaza

I am in a whale kind of mood. All of these images have been shown before, but now they are collected together. I hope you all love seeing Monstro as much as I do.
