Things From the Gate- Babes In Toyland Ticket Brochure

Another brochure that was filed in a different box. This Three Wonderful Ways to Visit Disneyland features the Babes in Toyland Movie exhibit in the Opera House as well as the construction notice. The interior with the large 1, 2 and 3 is nice as well. The brochure is number 12 and dated 1/62.

Parking and a Pig

Two images from November 1959. First up the parking lot that is now the esplanade. Disneyland is one of the only places where the sense of arrival is important.

A nice image of a little girl holding hands with one of the pigs.

Jungle Cruise and Nature's Wonderland

Three photographs of the Jungle River Cruise and one of Nature's Wonderland. First up is a nice image of the elephant bathing pool. It is okay, the elephants all have their trunks on.

A rather dark image of the Jungle residents attempting to attack the passing by boat.

Last image from the Jungle Cruise is the ancient Cambodian Shrine built by ancient Cambodian Shriners. I wonder what type of fez they wore?

Last image is of the rock formation for Nature's Wonderland in the Living Desert section. I believe these formations are still in existence at Disneyland.

Souvenir Friday- Magic Kingdom Club Ticket and Poster

This post is for Tim at Vintage Disneyland Tickets . First up is the 1959 Magic Kingdom Club card with the attached ticket vouchers. Note that the coupons expire September 13, 1959 and unfortunately two of the coupons are void due to being detached. Nice spot art of the castle and great typography for Disneyland and Magic Kingdom Club.

To add a little color, a poster from 1968 for Disneyland After Dark. The poster has a great Pop art design. Let's go to Disneyland after 4 PM and check out the performers.

World's Fair Wednesday- Unisphere, Statue and Coca Cola

More views of the 1964 New York World's Fair. First up are two views of the Unisphere. Much like the Trylon and Perisphere from 1939, the Unisphere was the image for the 1964 fair. Seen on much merchandise, the symbol was a large steel structure surrounded by wading pools and fountains. The Unisphere is still in existence, the pool half filled in with concrete.

Next up is the statues on the fairgrounds. The greenery around the statue makes a nice contrast to the asphalt and concrete of the fairgrounds.

Final image is an interior picture of the Coca Cola pavilion showcasing the many products of the large beverage company.

May 57 Visit to Disneyland Part 9

Saving the most interesting for the last day of the May 1957 visit is this set showing Tomorrowland. First up is the Avenue of Flags at the entrance to Tomorrowland with a panorama of the land in the background leading to the TWA Rocket to the Moon.

A nice view of the bubble and lights on the wall of one of the Tomorrowland show buildings.

A view of the eating and waiting area besides the Rocket to the Moon attraction. I am still enamored of the lights in Tomorrowland especially with the Jungle Cruise attraction poster. Off on the left side is the Wen-Mac Flight Circle.

Another view of the Rocket to the Moon attraction with the rare sight of the Tomorrowland ticket booth. In the background is the Flight Circle, with the large Wen Mac flag fluttering in the wind. I wonder if Cox Pilot was working this day?

A visually stunning shot of the American Motors Circarama theater and the great directional signs on the right hand side. The directional signs remind me of the signs seen in Alice in Wonderland.

Last image is of the building housing the Crane Bathroom of Tomorrow exhibit.

A close up and lightened image of the interior. In the far right you can see a desk where a representative from Crane would speak to guests about the Bathroom of Tomorrow (as well as give out the rare brochure.)

Things From the Gate- Mickey Mouse Club Ticket Brochure

Today and next week I am catching up with a couple of Two Wonderful Ways to Enjoy Disneyland brochures that were filed in a different location. First up is the brochure numbered 21 featuring the Mickey Mouse Club that was shown in Los Angeles on KTTV Channel 11. Ginny is looking very pretty in this image and who does not love Roy Williams the big Moosekeeter.

May 57 Visit to Disneyland Part 8

Continuing our two day cruise on the Jungle River Cruise. First up are the dangerous hippos who are wiggling their ears and blowing bubbles. I sure hope the photographer made it past the hippos.

A view down one of the tributaries. This photograph does not even look like it is in Disneyland.

The snapping alligators are another danger to be negotiated. I have never noticed the rope bridge in the background. A very nice touch of realism in the jungle.

A last ditch charge by a rhino misses the boat and the photographer survives.

May 57 Visit to Disneyland Part 7

The photographer moved into the next land, Adventureland. A nice view of the Adventureland part of the Plaza Pavilion restaurant. Check out the early tiki on the right side of the image.

The photographer then decided that it was time to visit the Jungle River Cruise. I have always liked this version of the Jungle Cruise boathouse.

Of course a view of Schweitzer Falls, showing the front side of water.

Last image for today is of the Monkey shrine with the jewels at the feet of the idol. I miss the bas relief carved elephant wall.

Souvenir Friday- Disneyland Erasers

A while back I posted a set of Disneyland erasers. That set featured the graphics of the main characters. This set is more Disneyland specific. I love the graphics for each land. Of course it helps that this set is mint in the box. Check out the price for these erasers back in the 1960s.

May 57 Visit to Disneyland Part 6

Continuing the exploration of Frontierland in May of 1957. First up is everyone's favorite cabin with the body out front.

Next up is a nice speeding view of the E.P. Ripley. It appears the train is racing the Mark Twain.

Another speeding view, this time the Stagecoach coming right towards the photographer. Nice outfits on the two sisters.

A view of the Indian Village from the Mark Twain. Sure looks like the Native American dancers are sleeping in.

,

My favorite image in this group, a nice pastoral image of Frontierland with the winding paths that were used by the Pack Mules. One of the pack of mules carrying guests can be seen in the upper right hand corner.

Still on the hunt for an early 1970's Walt Disney World cup. If you have one, please let me know. Or if you have a nice image of someone holding one, I am interested. Thanks.

World's Fair Wednesday- More Interior Images of Futurama

More interior images of the ride part of the GM Futurama exhibit. Some great dry for wet effects can be seen. First up is a cool explorer's vehicle and road builder in the jungles.

Next a view of the undersea colony.

A closer view of one of the buildings in the colony. I love the school of fish.

Finally a view of the space exploration area featuring the rocket fuel farm with one of the ride vehicles on the far right.

May 57 Visit to Disneyland Part 5

More Frontierland, the photographer really enjoyed taking pictures of the Mark Twain. First up is a nice view of the paddle in action.

An unusual view of the steam engine and drive shaft for the paddle. This is one of the pieces I like watching when riding the Twain.

Next up is a nice slide of the Indian Chief greeting us from the banks of the River of America. Note the rest of his tribe are up on the hill.

And it appears a little work is happening on Tom Sawyer's Island.
