One More Disneyland Sign

A rather unassuming sign, but one that makes Disneyland fans take notice. What is behind the sign? How does the new attraction and construction look? What are they building there? The photo is dated 1966, what do you think is behind the barricade?

Hmmm, I'll take a guess. The stone stuff on the left is the extreme east portion of the Storybook area where the boats are stored and come out thru a cave to the load area. The stuff in the background is stuff just to the left of the Fantasyland Station, maybe this work was being done for the installation of Small world? And on the right is what looks like two boats from the motorboat cruise up on blocks, I have no idea about those...

If you check out this 1965 aerial photo from my blog:

You can see the rectangle shaped structure and the "rocks" from the Storybook caves. The construction wall in your photo might be right in front where the midget autopia area was being removed. My 2¢

I think that the little structure with the stripes is one that you see in photos of Storybook Land, so maybe the construction has to do with the removal of Fantasyland Station, and the adding of "It's a Small World".

Yep, I think VDT is correct.

My guess is that the fence is covering up the removal of the Midget Autopia in April 1966 to widen the walkway to "It's a Small World."
