Disneyland Letter Mail Boxes
One of the unique innovations at Disneyland was placing Letter Boxes throughout the lands. By doing so, sales of postcards increased as people were more willing to purchase a postcard and drop it into the easily accessible mailboxes. In addition this increased the word of mouth advertising about Disneyland, enticing more guests to arrive. One of the nice traditions that has been maintained is the mailboxes throughout the park. The next time you are at Disneyland, buy a postcard, slap a message and some postage on it and send it to a loved one or a friend. A friendly cast member will collect the deposited mail and send it to the United States Postal Service.

I would never even think to stop and take a photo of those little mailboxes, especially when it meant using another precious frame of real film. But I'm glad that somebody else did it!
I always thought the mailboxes were a cute touch, and it added to the feeling that the whole place was a self-contained operating world when I was little. Anybody remember if they actually ever stamped outgoing mail with a Disneyland rubber stamp? I thought I remembered that happening but maybe they've always just directly sent the mail to the Anaheim P.O.
I'm gonna say the stupidest thing that was ever said about Disneyland, so the webmaster can feel free to add chaser lights around this post if he wants.
In all these years, for as many times as I saw these boxes, I didn't know they were for mail. I mean, letters, postcards etc. I had always thought they were for inter-office mail, or storage boxes for park operations documents.
