Mummy, oh my Mummy
Universal Studios in the 1960s used their film library much more in the park then they currently do. Each of the Universal monsters from the 1930's, 1940's and 1950s's were face characters one could meet and get your photo taken with, such monsters as Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula and more. Such is the case with the young dad and son seen in this image. In the background you can see the red and white striping of the Glamour Train Trams. I also like the lady in the yellow shirt with the white cat eye sunglasses.

Interesting, I've seen many photos of Frankenstein's monster and the Phantom of the Opera, but this is the first time I've seen The Mummy at Universal Studios. That's not a bad makeup job, actually! It resembles the Karloff movie a bit.
I've never seen anyone hold hands with a costumed Universal monster. Interesting.
I've frequented the park in all its incarnations since 1972 and I cant place where this photo was snapped. It appears to be at a tram loading site but which one? This could be down on the lot near the soundstages This is not the initial tram loading area (At the top of the hill at that time.)
Gsvin- The image was taken in the 1966 so there may have bene changes. I believe the tram stopped on the way at Prop Plaza and this may be where the image was taken.
Definitely Prop Plaza, upper level. The tram below is pulling out of the unload to the reload spot (or possibly, reloaded, pulling away).
And most probably a Don Post Studio custom mask, as all the walk-around characters wore then.
I believe that the monster masks on sale at Merlin's Magic Shop in Disneyland were also Don Post masks.
I remember seeing ads for them in "Famous Monsters of Filmland", and wanting them all!
Thanks for clearing that up. The hill behind them does not look like any near that location but... it was 1966.
Daddy and Mummy!
Shouldn't Mummy be choking Daddy around the throat, or something?
Great image! The Mummy has always been my favorite of all Universal Monsters (the original Mummy, that is. Not so much the modern version....)
