Spaceman and Spacewoman Circa 1958

A fun group of photographs circa 1958. First up is a nice view from the Skyway of Fantasyland. I love the amount of color in this shot. Also in the picture is the rare Fantasyland ticket booth.

Next up is a view of the Sleeping Beauty Castle.

A nice early evening shot of the Astro Jets and Tomorrowland. In the foreground is an attraction poster for the Sailing Ship Columbia.

Last image is from Tomorrowland featuring the Spaceman and Spacewoman and the two boys. It sure looks like the future is very hot as the boys have shed their shirts.

Souvenir Friday- Tour Guide Ephemera

A collection of tour guide ephemera from the early 1970s. The brochure was used to sell the tour to visiting guests. Some interesting images are used to promote the tour, a 2.5 hour visit to various sites and attractions in Disneyland. The brochure does not list Bear Country so I believe this was done in 1970 or 1971.

A collection of guide tags. Based upon the written information, I believe these were the ones used by the guides and attached to the riding crop. I would like confirmation that the numbers written on the tags are number of adults and number of children. My favorite tag is the orange one with I am from Boo-Hoo.

Final image is the ticket that the tour guide would give to the ride operators when they boarded their party on to the specific ride. This is a way to account for attendance for the rides.

Sea World Circa Late 1970s

First off a correction, yesterday's photographs are from 1988 the year Who Framed Roger Rabbit was released. The Fantasy Follies show played over many years and included additions as new characters and skits were introduced. Now on to today's images. These images are of Sea world circa late 1970s. My favorite show is the Dolphin show featuring the Pirate Ship and volcano as well as a Tiki hut. First up are a couple images of the dolphins performing.

Next up is a shot of a stuntman falling into the water as part of the skit.

Final image is from another show featuring Walrus, Penguins and other small mammals. The skits for this version of the show featured a cowboy and western theme. The RC logo brings back memories of childhood as it was one of the few sodas that was in my house.

Fantasy Follies Summer 1986

One of the attractions during the summer season at Disneyland in 1986 was the Fantasy Follies at the Carnation Gardens. The show featured some interesting character and costume choices. First up is Roger Rabbit, a new character at the time, performing the Hula Hoop in a grass skirt.

Next up are three of the Country Bears performing. They must have got lost and missed their normal theater.

This picture documents one of the most unusual costume choices I have seen, each Pig has their own house as a hat. Practical Pig looks like perturbed pig in this image.

Interior of the Pirates of the Carribean Circa 1986

The photographer probably was admonished not to use their flash, but the photographs are nice. First up is the skeleton bar scene with one of my favorite special effects of the wine going through the skeletons mouth and throat. The lovely red head as a Pirate Wench painting can be seen in this image.

Next up is the mayor dunking scene. I like all the loot already gathered by the pirates.

Here is the crowd watching and bidding on the wenches. I can hear them now....We wants the red head, we wants the red head!

Souvenir Friday- Holidayland Brochure 1958

This brochures is from 1958. The blank spaces would be printed with information for whichever company was holding it's picnic and event at Holidayland. Note the use of the design elements (such as the cartoon representations of the rides) from the gate fliers.

Check out the track for Alice In Wonderland in this picture.

Tomorrowland Circa 1988

Three neat photographs of Tomorrowland circa 1988. First up a nice dusk view of Tomorrowland as seen from the Peoplemover. I miss the elevated Rocket Jets and the kinetics of the ride with the Peoplemover circling the tower.

Next up a view of the entrance.

Another view from the Peoplemover showing the many layers of intertwined attractions.

Clowns, Clowns and More Clowns

More pictures of the circus clowns from Circus Fantasy 1988. First up the routine on the Main Street Skyway. I love the Chuck Taylor Converse shoes...I need to get a pair in baby blue!

Unicycles always make me laugh and the one in the background is quite spectacular with all the white wheels.

A big childhood memory is seeing a one man band similar to this clown. It appears he is making some fun of the Disneyland Band in this picture.

Send In The Clowns

What is a circus without clowns? The Circus Fantasy parade and event in 1988 featured a movie themed clown parade. First up is the director bringing in the camera truck.

Here is the camera truck.

Across Main Street, a cable was strung and a cable car was run by clowns across the chasm between buildings.

An Old Favorite

While I am out of town on a business trip, I have no access to a scanner. So here is an old favorite post, the manual to drive a Monorail, the Highway in the Sky...
