One of the company employee communications in 1966 was this University of Disneyland newsletter. I have posted three others and today we look at May 1966. The back page has some of the most interesting information with the hours of operation and which attractions were undergoing maintenance (and when the attractions were scheduled to be re-opened.) Note that it's a small world would be opening this month.

A fascinating snippet of what life, and cost, was 50 years ago for Cast Members. Remember too that wages were only few dollars an hour, but it was all relative.
How much fun my family had during those 'private parties'. It was a fast 5 hours which cannot be repeated today.
Does anyone else wonder what William Gross did to get himself fired??? And good for Disneyland for publishing it. All those Disneylanders would later say, "Hey don't act like Bill. He got fired, sued, lost, and then publicly shamed you know!"
Always your pal,
Amazon Belle
Wow, great item! Thanks for the look, PJ!
Yeah, what did William Gross do? Those musicians, you never know. Also, I wonder if Disney still has a college scholarship program - imagine winning a full scholarship these days, that could be well over $100,000.
I'm a few days late, but apparently, William M. Gross was guilty of "noodling" on his saxophone and other offenses:
"When the band was playing 'The Dance of the Mirlitons,' Cross would change the tempo. When the band was marching with stately precision down the streets of Disneyland, Gross would get out of line. He sometimes put his cap on backwards. When a bandsman named Tracy was playing a solo number, 'Gross would make derisive noises.' "

Glad to hear 'the rest of the story' about Mr. Gross.
He must have made marching difficult.
Thanks!
